Is Your Child A Candidate?
If you answer yes to these 3 questions then Curamus School may be a good fit for your child:
- Does your child have a confirmed diagnosis of Autism Spectrum disorder (ASD) from a registered doctor or educational psychologist?
- Is your child unable to cope with the mainstream CAPS curriculum?
- Do you stay in the Westrand area?
Should you wish to consider Curamus School as an option for your child, please follow the process outlined below:
STEP 1
Make an appointment for you and your child to visit us and meet with our school based support team. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire beforehand as well as supply us with the following documents:
• Diagnosis letter stating your child has Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Any previous psycho-educational assessments
• Speech and language assessments
• Occupational therapy assessments
• Previous school reports
STEP 2
Come to the appointment given to you. The school based support team will conduct a brief interview with you and the Occupational and/or Speech Therapists will do a brief screening assessment with your child.
STEP 3
Depending on the outcome of the screening assessment, your child will be placed on our waiting list. Placement is done through the Gauteng Department of Education.
STEP 4
Once a space becomes available in a class suitable for your child you will be contacted to enroll your child.
